There is a special kind of joy that comes with wearing something new as a child. It is not just about the clothes it is the excitement, the confidence, and the feeling of being seen. Coat of Many Colours is a reflection on childhood and the simple happiness that can come from having something new to wear. Growing up, new clothes are not something that happen every day. For many children, Christmas becomes that special time of the year when a new outfit is bought, carefully kept, and finally worn with pride. I remember how putting on new clothes could completely change the way a child felt. You stand differently, walk with confidence, and cannot wait for people to notice. The colourful dress in this painting represents that excitement the innocence of a child who does not need much to feel happy. Do you remember the joy of wearing your new clothes for Christmas as a child?
