The divine intervention

Painting

In this body of work, I reflect on an ancient migration story of the people of Ile-Oluji, a Yoruba-speaking town in Ondo State, Nigeria. A journey marked by uncertainty, endurance, faith, and divine intervention. Across the paintings, I depict moments where the people are stranded in the forest, exhausted, thirsty, and searching for direction. In their despair, they raise their hands to the sky and pray to the gods for guidance and salvation.
