THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES The piece by Godwin Tom Sunday, entitled “The Secret in their Eyes” is a mixed media work of art, with its dimension 88cm by 117cm and produced in the year 2022. The painting depict a voiceless society where immorality and corrupt practice is striving and nobody seems to say or do anything. This situation has become a global issue where morality and good deed no longer strive, this is where people prefer to see more and refused to voice out and condemn wrong doing happening in this global village. Within the canvas is a frenzy of impasto colours, both vibrant and dull, representing the whirlwind of immorality and corruption that has eaten deep into our society. The matchstick-looking people symbolize us all just standing by the sidelines, watching things just happen. Also lingering around the scene, are faces with widely opened eyes that have no mouth remind us of the proverbial “speak no evil” but then, they see much evil. Unfortunately, this situation has become a societal problem and morality is gradually fading away. The work was done to stress the importance of good morals and the need to uphold the practice.
